Crystal (Kennard) Liddiard majored in Vocal Performance at Southern Utah University, where she studied with Carol Ann Modesitt. Among her roles as an undergraduate were Susanna (segments of Le Nozze di Figaro), Carmen (segments of Carmen), and Witch (Hansel und Gretel). Ms. Liddiard was awarded third place in her division at the Arizona NATS her senior year. While studying performance, Crystal was inspired to take an education class, and fell in love. While she has always enjoyed being around children, never before had it become so clear to her that she MUST teach. Thus, she decided to double major in Education and Performance, receiving her certification in elementary music as well. A year after graduation, Ms. Liddiard landed an amazing opportunity to teach elementary music in the prestigious Public Schools of Brookline in Massachusetts. There, she honed her skills and fell deeply in love with not only the students and her colleagues, but teaching itself. She started with 7-8 graders and slowly added grades, having taught all K-8 by the end of her time there. Her last three years in Brookline were spent teaching grades K-2 music, and 6-8 drama, both of which she adored. The little ones, however, carved a place in her heart. Never before had something come so naturally to her. In her 5 years in MA, Crystal directed 5 school musicals, including Once on This Island, The Music Man, The Pirates of Penzance, Beauty and the Beast, and Into the Woods. Though she wasn’t on the stage herself, and deeply missed performing, she found a new joy in helping young kids find that love of the stage, growing in ways they never thought they could.

Back in Utah, Crystal is thrilled to be able to continue teaching music, while also nurturing and singing with her own little ones at home.
